1. Book Your Design Consultation

A Pool Perfection office team member will phone you to set an appointment with a designer. Email your property survey beforehand or have a copy ready at the meeting so the team can confirm buildable space and keep the process moving quickly. We cannot provide a design and quote without it.

2. Create and Refine the 3D Design

During the in-person meeting the designer captures your vision and measures out your space, then produces a realistic 3D model of your own backyard. You review the rendering and request tweaks until it matches exactly what you want.

3. Approve the Quote and Select Materials

After the design is locked in, Pool Perfection provides a detailed price quote. Once you give the go‑ahead, you'll then visit the showroom to choose tile, decking, interior finishes, and other materials that align with your vision.

4. Sign the Contract and Obtain Permits

With materials chosen, both parties sign the construction contract. Pool Perfection submits permit applications to your local municipality and keeps you informed of progress until approval arrives.

5. Permitting, Construction, and Completion

Once permits are approved your project is scheduled, usually after a three to four week lead time. Construction itself typically takes six to eight weeks. The team stays in touch throughout, ensuring a smooth experience until you are ready to dive into your finished pool.

How should I prepare before the design consultation?

Take a few minutes to look through our website and Instagram. Save any pools, features, or styles you like. Think about how you want to use your future backyard: hosting friends, relaxing alone, spending time with family. And if possible, make sure both you and anyone else involved in the decision can be there for the meeting.

What will happen when you visit my home?

We’ll walk through your backyard with you, take measurements, and start putting ideas together based on your lifestyle, taste, and budget. This is where your vision starts to come to life.

What does "custom builder" really mean?

It means we don’t use templates or pre-made designs. Every single pool we build starts from scratch and is made to fit your space and your goals. You won’t see your pool in someone else’s backyard.

What will we talk about during the consultation?

We’ll go over different design ideas, price ranges, and how long everything typically takes. Our goal is to give you a clear picture of what’s possible so you can make confident decisions, without pressure.

How much does a custom pool actually cost?

You most likely already know the answer: It depends.
A basic custom concrete pool starts at around $55,000. This includes a simple pool without spa or premium features, in a flat yard. Costs go up depending on:

Backyard slope (may require retaining walls or footers)
Access for construction equipment
Material choices like decking, interior finish, and tile
Add-ons like spas, fire features, swim-up bars, or screen enclosures

Can you really build a pool in 6 to 8 weeks?

Yes, on average, we finish pools in about 6 to 8 weeks after breaking ground. We’re able to hit this timeframe because:

All permits are submitted and in review before construction starts
Materials are pre-ordered to avoid delivery delays
Our trade partners are booked and scheduled in advance

What is the actual process of building a pool?

Once your contract is signed, we follow a clear seven-step construction process to bring your backyard to life:

1. Site Walk & Layout
We start by walking your yard with your property survey in hand. This helps us place the pool correctly and address any slope or drainage issues early on.

2. Final Plans & Permitting
Your wishlist is turned into official construction plans. We submit them to the county and wait for permit approval before breaking ground.

3. Dig & Steel Framework
Once permits are in, we excavate the pool and install a steel rebar skeleton. This framework gives the concrete its long-term strength and shape.

4. Shell, Plumbing & Wiring
We spray in the concrete shell (shotcrete) and install the plumbing and electrical systems. These include the pipes, lighting, and any feature wiring hidden behind the scenes.

5. Tile & Coping
After the shell cures, we install the waterline tile and coping (the edge around the pool). These are your first visible finishes and help define the look of your pool.

6. Decking & Enclosure
Next, your deck is installed using your chosen paver or stone. If your design includes a screen enclosure, we install that during this phase to ensure everything fits perfectly.

7. Interior Finish & Startup
We apply your chosen quartz or pebble interior surface, then fill the pool with water and balance the chemistry. You'll get a full walkthrough of how to use your equipment, and we’ll monitor your water chemistry for the first 28 days at no cost.

This entire process is managed by your dedicated project manager who keeps you updated and informed every step of the way.

Learn Your Materials

Decking: The Foundation of Your Outdoor Space

Your pool deck adds the most color and personality to your space. You'll choose from several materials:

Brick Pavers – Most affordable and very slip-resistant. They get hot in the summer and need sealing to protect from fading, water, and dirt.
Artistic Pavers – Come in Shellock, Granitelock, and Eurolock styles. These are dense, don’t require sealing, stay cooler if you pick a light color, and have a modern, slim profile.
Natural Stone – Includes Travertine, Marble, and Limestone. We only use Premium Select Grade, which is the best quality available. Travertine doesn't need sealing. Marble and Limestone do, right after install and every few years.
Porcelain Pavers – Give your deck the look of an indoor floor. There are many modern color options, but installation is more expensive and they can crack or heat up more easily.

Water Color: Picking the Interior Finish

This step affects both how your pool looks and how long it lasts:

Quartz finish lasts about 15 years
Pebble finish lasts about 25 years

A white plaster base will give your water a light blue look. If you want a deeper or different tone, we offer a wide range of colors through Stonescapes and PebbleTec.

Tile: Highlighting the Waterline

The tile around the top edge of your pool adds both style and protection. We use only high-quality glass and porcelain tiles that are rated for pools. All tiles are installed using Sub-aquatic SGM grout.

This grout is specially made for underwater use. It resists cracking, helps prevent mold and staining, and holds up longer than standard grout. Even our standard tile package includes great-looking glass options.
