What is Pool Resurfacing?

Resurfacing replaces the interior finish of your pool; the plaster gets applied over the concrete walls and floor. To do this properly, the existing surface must be completely removed, a process known as a full delamination.

Once the old surface is removed and the concrete shell is exposed, we thoroughly inspect it for any structural damage or deterioration. If the shell is in good condition, it is properly prepped before applying the new interior finish.

Resurfacing is essential maintenance for concrete pools and is typically required every 5 to 25 years, depending on the quality of materials, installation, and ongoing water chemistry.

Some companies offer basic plaster resurfacing as a standalone service, typically ranging from $7,000 to $10,000. However, these services often do not include full delamination, which can lead to premature failure.

Additionally, once we complete a full delamination of the existing surface, underlying issues often become visible that must be addressed properly. Removing the tile is also critical, as it allows us to inspect the bond beam, an area where structural cracking is common, especially in pools with concrete decks. Many of these cracks are not visible until the tile is removed and, when present, require reinforcement with rebar pins and structural repair.
